Every community has opportunities to grow stronger.
If elected Mayor, I will focus on thoughtful leadership, practical solutions, and building on the strengths that already make Osseo a wonderful place to live, work, and do business.
These are the priorities that will guide my work.
Improving Communication & Transparency
Residents deserve clear, timely, and accessible information from their city government.
I’ll continue advocating for and implementing proactive communication that helps residents understand upcoming projects, City Council decisions, community events, and opportunities to get involved. Transparency builds trust, and trust strengthens our community.
My priorities include:
- Clear explanations of City Council decisions.
- Timely and informative updates on projects.
- Multiple ways for residents to receive information.
- Making city information easier to access and understand.
Strengthening Community Engagement
The best ideas often come from the people who live and work here.
I want every resident to feel welcomed, informed, and encouraged to participate in shaping Osseo’s future.
Community engagement means creating meaningful opportunities for residents, businesses, and community organizations to share ideas—not just during matters from the floor or via elections.
My priorities include:
- Encouraging resident participation.
- Expanding opportunities for public input through town halls and information sessions.
- Building stronger relationships with residents and businesses.
Responsible Financial Stewardship
Tax payers are fed up with the constant and often large increases in property taxes and assessments.
Responsible financial stewardship means ensuring our tax dollars are spent wisely. Sound financial decisions require thoughtful planning, due diligence, and frequent assessments to ensure they bring value to the city.
City leadership needs to ask – will this bring value? Will this cost money or save money? Are there lower cost alternatives? Is this a need or a want? Who does this serve? Is this investment appropriate for the size of this community? Is the information provided correct?
The city’s dependency on loans (bonds) costs us more money in the long run. Saving for projects is the responsible approach, leaving loans for emergency situations only.
My priorities include:
- Long-term financial planning.
- Responsible budgeting.
- Maintaining infrastructure before problems become emergencies.
- Reducing or eliminating the city’s dependency on borrowing.
- Maximizing value for taxpayers.
Supporting Small Businesses
Small and Local businesses are an essential part of Osseo’s identity.
They create jobs, strengthen our local economy, draw visitors to Osseo, and contribute to the character of our community.
As Mayor, I will be a collaborative partner that listens to business owners, understands their challenges, and works to support a healthy business environment.
My priorities include:
- Open communication with business owners.
- Supporting economic vitality.
- Encouraging redevelopment that benefits the community.
- Promoting Osseo as a great place to live, shop, and invest.
Maintaining High-Quality City Services
Residents rely on city services every day.
Whether it’s public safety, parks, streets, utilities, or snow removal, I believe city government should deliver reliable, efficient, and high-quality services.
When it comes to snow removal our city out-performs nearly every city in the metro. Our public works team does an amazing job taking care of our city. But they are limited by our budget and resources.
Our city buildings and infrastructure have been failing. The city admitted to not performing adequate preventative maintenance. This has caused us to be reactive instead of proactive and has put us in serious predicaments.
The lift stations were failing and the city waited too long to replace them so it became an emergency and we lost out on $1.6 Million dollars in state assistance to cover the work. We were eventually able to convince the state to give us the money towards future projects, but not at the time we needed it most.
City hall is falling apart. Consistent maintenance would have reduced or prevented many of these issues.
The city needs to prioritize preventative maintenance and have adequate reserves to cover costly repairs. Reacting to emergency failures not only costs us more money, but could result in serious gaps in city services such as water and sewer.
City council recently approved the addition of a public works employee which is a great first step to improving the maintenance of our property and infrastructure. The next step is to secure adequate reserves to fund replacement of aging equipment and a facilities maintenance plan that looks 10+ years into our future to adequately plan for and fund necessary updates and repairs. A comprehensive facilities maintenance plan gives us the ability to schedule large projects in a way that spreads out the spend more evenly across the years so we are not caught in an emergency situation that requires loans or missing out on grants that could pay for the repairs.
My priorities include:
- Maintaining infrastructure.
- Planning proactively instead of reacting to problems.
- Creating and maintaining a long term maintenance and replacement plan.
- Maintaining safe sidewalks and community spaces.
- Delivering efficient and dependable city services.
